A ROAD on the outskirts of Taunton was blocked when a car caught fire last night (January 15).
Firefighters from the county town were called to the incident, at Fivehead, at around 10.08pm.
“On arrival, the crew confirmed one car was well alight and got to work with a compressed air foam jet and two breathing apparatus sets to prevent the fire escalating,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.
“Police were requested to attend due to the vehicle blocking the carriageway.”
They said the car was destroyed in the blaze, with a hose reel jet, compressed air foam jet and two breathing apparatus used to put out the fire, which was “believed to be accidental in origin”, by around 11.30pm.
