Busy Bridgwater road to close during the day for “urgent” works: Here’s when

A BUSY Bridgwater road will close overnight for “urgent” works later this month.

Somerset Council said the Parkway will shut to traffic between 7am and 6pm from October 27 to 31 for “urgent patching works”.

“These works will be followed by resurfacing in April of next year,” a spokesperson said.

“While the road is closed a signed diversion will be in place.”

It comes hot on the heels of a host of roadworks in Bridgwater and soon after the new one-way system in Eastover was opened following a months-long closure.

However, the council has moved to reassure residents the works will be complete before Bridgwater Carnival, which is due to take place on November 1.

“The northbound section will be closed between 7am and 6pm and open outside of these times. Southbound Dual will remain open throughout the period of the works,” a spokesperson said.

“Work will be completed in time for carnival on November 1.”
