A BUSY route through the Somerset Levels is set to be closed overnight for resurfacing works lasting almost two weeks.
Somerset Council will be resurfacing the A361 High Street and Fore Street in Othery, starting on Wednesday, January 22.
The work will be carried out across 13 nights, until Saturday, February 8, when the road will be closed between 6.30pm and 11.30pm on weekdays. It will be open at all other times, except Saturday, February 8.
Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout for residents, though there may be some restrictions or delays for vehicle access on occasion to some properties and residents should liaise with the site team.

Lead member for transport and waste services at the council, Cllr Richard Wilkins, said: “This is a really important scheme delivering a fresh surface on a busy, vital route across the Levels.
“It’s inevitable there will be disruption when we do this work, that’s why it is being done outside of peak hours.
“The team will do their best to get the work completed as quickly and painlessly as possible – please do liaise with them if you are a resident and need to raise any issues around access.
“We are extremely grateful to residents for their support and understanding while this work is done.”
Other roadworks planned for the coming months include repairs to the A372 New Road and Loadpool, and work on the A361 at East Lyng in the spring.
However, in some good news for drivers, a planned one-way system during roadworks at Puriton Hill, near Bridgwater, is no longer needed.
