DOZENS of open-water swimmers took to chilly Somerset waters this month to raise money for a worthwhile cause.
A total of 40 brave swimmers donned their finest festive swim caps as they took the plunge at the Christmas Cracker Chill Swim, held at the Vobster Quay open-water swimming and scuba diving venue, near Radstock.
Together, swimmers raised £1,400 for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA).
DSAA volunteers Helen and Nic Jeffris, alongside Dasher, the charity’s mascot, were among those joining the fun.
Amy Stanton, Vobster Quay owner, said: “We’re thrilled that so many brave open water swimmers joined us for what has become one of our favourite events of the year.

“Since our very first Christmas Cracker Chill Swim in 2022, we’ve raised thousands of pounds for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, and we’re thrilled to have extended that total even further with another £1,400 donated to this worthy charity.
“The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is a charity very close to our hearts and our Chill Swim is a great opportunity for us to show them just how much we love and value what they do.”
Vobster Quay has supported the DSAA charity for over a decade, raising more than £14,000 since 2011 through collection boxes, festive events, and more.
Charlotte Humber, DSAA supporter engagement officer for Somerset, said: “A huge thank you to Vobster Quay for hosting such a brilliant event, and to every participant who braved the chilly waters.
“The funds raised will directly support DSAA, helping our crews deliver life-saving care when it matters most. We’re incredibly grateful for your support.”
