THE newly-relocated Independent Living Centre (ILC) in North Somerset is inviting people to pop in and find out more about what it has to offer.
North Somerset Council (NSC), which runs the facility, is hosting an open day at ILC, now in Trenleigh Drive, Worle, on January 28, from 10am to 4pm.
The centre provides support to help people live independently at home, including for disabled and elderly people, with advice and demonstrations available highlighting equipment and services, including:
- bathing and shower units
- raised-level kitchens
- stairlifts
- riser recliner chairs and adjustable beds
- Technology Enabled Care (TEC)
- mobility aids
- wheelchair weighing scales
Councillor Roger Whitfield, NSC executive member for adult services and stronger communities, said: “Services like the Independent Living Centre are an important part of our community. You never know when you or a loved one might need advice or support to stay independent at home. The centre is here for everyone, and we’d encourage residents to come along and see what’s available.”

Visitors on the open day will have the chance to meet representatives from services and suppliers, including stairlift specialists, AKW Bathrooms, Medequip, and Medequip Connect, as well as North Somerset Council’s Carers Service, Occupational Therapy and TEC teams, the Handyperson Service, and Sirona Specialist Falls Service.
Cllr Whitfield added: “Our vision for adult social services and housing in North Somerset is to promote wellbeing by helping our residents to be as independent as possible, for as long as possible.
“The Independent Living Centre is a key part of delivering this vision, creating a space where people can access the information, guidance and support they need to lead fulfilling lives.”
The centre is open Tuesday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, and visitors are welcome to drop in without an appointment.
