WHEN two care home residents in Frome were asked to help with ongoing maintenance projects around the home, they were happy to lend a hand.
Paul, who is in charge of maintenance at Catherine House Care Home, enlisted the help of two residents who are no strangers to hands-on work.
One of the helpers was a former retail assistant at B&M and was particularly interested when he learnt they would be heading to B&Q for painting supplies.

Having worked at the opposite store from the one they were visiting, he reminisced about his time there and also shared his experience as a tarmac layer.
A spokesperson for the care home said: “At Catherine House Care Home in Somerset, maintaining a sense of home goes beyond just daily routines, it’s about involvement, purpose, and shared experiences.”
Paul has plenty of other projects underway at Catherine House, including painting one of the bathrooms and clearing foliage along the side of the home, and he will be involving any family members that wish to be involved.
They added: “In addition to Paul’s maintenance role, he also runs the Gardening Club on a weekly basis, rotating between the home’s three households so that each gets a session every three weeks.
“The care home believes in creating a supportive and person-centred environment that truly feels like home.
“Whilst one whole community, the home is thoughtfully designed into three smaller households, each catering to different stages of life’s journey.
“This approach allows the home to provide the right level of care and engagement for each family member.”
