Care home near Taunton opens following two years of renovations

A RECENTLY renovated care home has been described as being in a “class of its own” following the completion of two years of refurbishment.

Beauchamp House Country House Care, a Grade II country house on Village Road in Hatch Beauchamp, has seen bedrooms and communal spaces refurbished, including the onsite café, lounges, a library, dining rooms and a hair and nail salon.

Residents, relatives and the team from the care home looked on as the Taunton Mayor councillor Vanessa Garside cut the ribbon alongside the care home’s “most experienced” resident, 99 year-old Barbara, as well as the CEO of Care South Simon Bird, chair of Care South Chris Kean and home manager Debbie Lane.

Cllr Garside was given a tour of the site following the ceremony and said the care home was “probably the best care home I have visited since I started my mayoral year in May.”

“The renovations are splendid and the rooms have been beautifully refurbished,” she added.

“It’s like being in a posh hotel with the best facilities. I think that the home offers a good quality of life to the residents.”

The mayor’s escort, Doctor chief Mansour Jumaa, said: “I’m envious of the residents who live at Beauchamp House.

“I think all care homes should be like this. It was a pleasure to visit with the Mayor.

“What we have seen is unique. We have been to several care homes since May and this is in a class of its own.”

Simon Bird, CEO of Care South, said: “I am delighted to celebrate the completion of the renovation works on Beauchamp House, which will enable the residents to receive modern, high-quality care in this historic Grade II listed building for many years to come.

“I’m also immensely proud of the whole care home team at Beauchamp House, who have continued to provide exceptional care to the residents throughout the renovation process.

“They have already shared how much the residents are enjoying the updated facilities, which enable them to live happy, fulfilled lives in our care.”

Beauchamp House Country House Care, which is part of the Care South family of care homes, provides residential, respite, and nursing care.

It features a dedicated activities team who organise a daily programme of events to bring residents together to socialise and build friendships.
