Somerset pub famous for Christmas lights reveals big switch-on date

LANDMARK Christmas lights will once again illuminate the Mendip Hills this festive season – raising money for charity.

The Queen Victoria Inn, in Priddy, near Wells, will kick off the festive season in style with its annual Christmas light switch-on, on Monday, December 1, from 6pm.

Events at the pub will be in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), raising money to help treat babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families.

The Queen Victoria is renowned for its beloved Christmas light display, which has been a festive highlight for decades.

The lights attract visitors from across the county, drawing families and festive enthusiasts eager to enjoy the spectacle and soak up the joyful atmosphere.

And Kylie Gallagher, area fundraiser for CHSW, said she was “delighted” the Queen Victoria was again supporting the hospice.

“Community events like this not only bring people together but also help us continue providing vital care and support for local families that we support,” she said.

Visitors to the big switch-on are encouraged to arrive early to soak up the atmosphere.
