WORK to replace bus shelters in Minehead is continuing – with a number of the new structures in place.
Somerset Council, using funding from the government Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), has updated a number of shelters in the town, with work in The Avenue running in recent weeks.
Councillor Mandy Chilcott (Conservative, Minehead) was among those who noted the work being carried out.
“We know how important these shelters are to so many that live here or visit the town and I think the overall look is an improvement on those that were removed earlier in the year,” she said.
Previously, Minehead Town Council said the updating of bus shelters in the town had been “a priority for some time”.
“Once complete, these shelters will provide much-needed comfort and protection for passengers, representing a significant improvement to local transport infrastructure,” a spokesperson added.
