Weather warning issued for more rain in Somerset – starting tonight

AS SOMERSET continues to deal with flooding following persistent rainfall in recent weeks – another weather warning has been issued.

The Met Office has issued a yellow alert running from 6pm this evening (February 2) to 9pm on Tuesday night.

“Outbreaks of rain are expected to become persistent later on Monday, especially overnight, before gradually clearing during Tuesday, perhaps not clearing the northeast of the warning area until Tuesday evening,” a forecaster said.

“Accumulations of 10mm to 20mm are possible fairly widely, with perhaps as much as 40mm to 60mm over Dartmoor.

“Given saturated ground following recent rain, there is a chance this may lead to some flooding and disruption in places.”

It comes as Somerset residents continue to endure flooding at homes and on county roads.
