PEOPLE in North Somerset can now take photographs of their rubbish to find out if they can put it in their recycling.

The feature is among new capabilities in the updated, free North Somerset Council (NSC) app, available on mobile devices.

Also featuring a “modern design”, the app aims to inform residents of services available – and how best to use them – quickly and easily.

“The refreshed app builds on the success of the original, which was launched to help residents manage their recycling and waste,” a spokesperson said.

“This new update goes much further, offering improved usability, new digital tools and better access to essential local services.

“The updated app features a clean, modern look designed to make it easier for residents to navigate and find the services they need.”

Report problems in your area, including potholes

Cllr Annemieke Waite, Cabinet member for planning and environment, said: “We’re committed to making it easier for residents to access the services they rely on every day, and this major update to our app is a big step forward.

“The new features – from personalised waste reminders to the innovative AI recycling tool – are designed to save people time and make interacting with the council simpler and more intuitive.

“We’re also pleased to give residents quicker access to consultations and reporting tools, helping everyone stay informed and have their say about what happens in their community.”

The NSC app is free to download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. If you already have the app downloaded on your phone, go to the Store to update it to the new version.
