DELAYS to recycling collections in Somerset are continuing today.

Amid “operational issues”, Somerset Council said crews were tackling a backlog of kerbside collections.

Today (September 30), they said delays could affect: Wells, Cheddar, Wookey Hole, Chewton Mendip and Priddy and their surrounding villages, as well as Curry Rivel and Chard.

“If residents’ recycling has not been collected on the day it is scheduled, they are asked leave boxes and bags out and crews will return the next day – there’s no need to report it,” a spokesperson added.

“Crews will be working to try to make sure recycling is collected and will be working on Saturday if needed.”
