DOZENS of North Somerset addresses are ‘likely to be missed’ by waste collectors today (August 12), as a driver shortage continues to delay the service.

North Somerset Council says a shortage of drivers throughout August is likely to see delays to recycling and garden waste collections – though black bin rubbish pick-ups are not affected.

An NSC spokesperson said: “Some households may experience some disruption to their recycling, food and garden waste collections throughout August. This is because we currently don’t have enough HGV drivers to complete our rounds as normal.

“This will not have on impact on your three-weekly waste collections. Black bins and sacks will be collected on your usual collection day.”

The authority has released a list of addresses likely to be affected today (August 12) for both garden waste and recycling collections – with two out of seven garden waste rounds, and four out of 28 recycling rounds facing pressure.
