Last chance for free bus travel into Weston for Christmas shopping!

CHRISTMAS shoppers in Weston-Super-Mare can enjoy free transport into the town centre until tomorrow (December 7).

The number 6 bus service is completely free – with no tickets required – with passengers allowed to hop on and off as much as they like.

The half-hourly Service 6 route connects Worle Terminus to Weston’s Interchange, passing through stops including Upper Bristol Road, Worle High Street, and Mead Vale.

On Sundays, the service runs hourly, providing convenience throughout the week.

Cllr Hannah Young, executive member for highways and transport at North Somerset Council, said: “This free travel initiative is a wonderful way to support local businesses during the festive season while giving people the chance to socialise with friends and family.

“By showcasing how convenient it is to use the bus, we hope more people will choose public transport in the future.”

The free travel initiative is part of a wider campaign by the council and First Bus to encourage more people to catch the bus, and is funded by government money.

It also forms a key part of the council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan, funded by the Department for Transport, which is focused on creating a well-connected, efficient bus network to meet community needs.
