A LANDMARK tree in a Taunton park is to be cut down due to “extensive fungus growth”.
The mature horse chestnut, near the COACH venue in French Weir Park, will be felled on January 19, Taunton Town Council has confirmed.
“Due to extensive fungus growth, we have taken the difficult decision to cut down a mature horse chestnut tree in French Weir park, next to boat yard access at COACH,” a spokesperson said.
“This is essential for public safety, this tree has dropped several limbs over the past few months.”
