WORKERS at a major Somerset employer can now enjoy expanded nursery facilities.
The UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) has officially opened its expanded on-site nursery, Tops Mini Mariners, increasing childcare capacity for employees and the community.
MP Gideon Amos (Lib Dem, Taunton & Wellington) officially opened the expanded facilities on Friday (January 30) at the UKHO base, in Taunton.
Mr Amos met UKHO chief executive Vanessa Blake, as well as senior staff members from Tops Mini Mariners, who operate the nursery.
The nursery provides childcare for children aged from three months to pre-school age and currently serves UKHO employees and residents living near the facility, in Admiralty Way.
Thanks to the expansion works, the purpose-built Tops Mini Mariners nursery has increased capacity from 35 to 43 children.
“It’s great to see an important public body like the UK Hydrographic Office in Taunton opening such a wonderful new nursery and supporting their staff and the local community in this way,” MP Mr Amos said.
“It was my privilege to open this new facility – congratulations to all involved.”
Ms Blake added: “It was a pleasure to welcome Gideon Amos MP to the UKHO on the opening of our newly renovated nursery. Supporting our employees is central to our values, and by increasing capacity we are also pleased to support more families from the local area.”
