HARD work paid off for University Centre Somerset (USC) students as they picked up their A-level results yesterday (August 14).
A-level students at USC – Bridgwater & Taunton College and Strode College – achieved grades above the national average this year as 23 subjects achieved a 100% pass rate.
Students celebrated places at leading universities including the University of Bristol, University of Exeter and Cardiff University, while others have secured highly competitive apprenticeships and employment, from Degree Apprenticeships with a Bristol solicitors’ firm to roles in Digital & Technology Solutions with Babcock.
Liz Nuttall, assistant principal for A Levels at Bridgwater College said: “I’m absolutely delighted with this year’s A Level results.
“To see high grades achieved is a testament to the hard work, resilience, and ambition of our students. They have shown real dedication to their studies and embraced every opportunity available to them.
“I couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve achieved, and I’m excited to see the incredible futures they are now stepping into.”

High-flyer’s include:
- Marcell who achieved A*A*A and is going on to study Computer Science at University of Bristol
- Kiera who secured A*A*A and has secured Solicitor Degree Apprenticeship in Bristol
- Elissa who achieved A*A*B and is taking a gap year
- Frazer who secured A*AB and is going on to study Law at University of Exeter
- Ellie who achieved AAC and an A in her EPQ and is off to University of Exeter to study Law
- Belle who achieved AAB and is off to University of Salford to study English Multidiscipline
- Toby who achieved AAC and an A* in his EPQ and is going to study Physics with Astro-physics at Exeter University
- Anna who achieved AAC and is going to study Law at University of Exeter
- Cole who achieved AAC and a B in his EPQ and is undertaking a Degree Apprenticeship with Babcock
- Hadley who secured ABB and a B in his EPQ and is going to study English Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Gloucestershire
- Lydia-Joy who achieved ABB and is off to study Psychology at Bath Spa University

T Level students have also achieved positive outcomes this year, with early years, construction design, surveying and planning, accounting, light vehicle and software development securing a 100% pass rate.
Construction – design, surveying and planning was a standout success, with 64% of students achieving a distinction.
On completion of their T Levels, many students are stepping directly into careers with local and national employers, taking on roles in areas such as engineering, healthcare, education, and digital technologies.
Others have secured places on degree courses at universities across the UK, while a number are progressing to higher-level apprenticeships, combining professional training with paid work.

Hollie achieved a Distinction in her Software Development T Level and is going on to study computing digital technologies at University Centre Somerset.
She said: “This course challenged me to think creatively and solve problems like a real developer. My work experience at Sedgemoor FM gave me the chance to put my skills into practice, and achieving this grade has been the perfect way to round it all off.”
Louise Rowley, executive principal at UCS College Group said: “Our T Level students have achieved phenomenal results this year.

“Standout performances in areas like construction – design, surveying and planning, where 64% of students earned a distinction, highlight the talent and dedication of our learners.
“These achievements show the strength of our T Level provision and the exciting opportunities these qualifications open up for our students’ futures.”
Students on technical and professional qualifications have also achieved exceptional results this year, with an outstanding 99% of students successfully passing their course.

Ellen achieved Triple Distinction* on her Level 3 uniformed protective services course and has a long-term goal of becoming a Paramedic.
Ellen said: “I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved on my course. The mix of practical, hands-on training and support from my tutors has really prepared me for the next step.”
