A WELFARE check at a property in Weston super Mare has resulted in three people being charged with county lines drug offences.
On April 18, police went to an address in the town to check on the welfare of the person living there.
The visit led to investigations and three arrests – in Birmingham.
Those arrested were brought back to the Avon and Somerset Police area, and the following people have now been charged:
- Haresh Salhotra, 18, of Victoria Road, Soho, Birmingham, has been charged with two counts of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs (heroin and crack cocaine), as well as possession of an offensive weapon (combat knife) and two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs (heroin and cocaine).
- Courtney McCarthy, 24, of Manningford Road, Birmingham, has been charged with two counts of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs (heroin and crack cocaine), one count of possession of a bladed article (lock knife), and one count of possession of an offensive weapon (an axe).
- Nathan Farnon, 28, of Feltham, Hounslow, London, has been charged with two counts of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs (heroin and crack cocaine).
They all appeared at North Somerset Magistrates’ Court on April 26. Farnon and McCarthy were remanded in custody, while Salhotra was released on bail. They will next appear at Bristol Crown Court on May 24.
An Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson urged people to get in touch if they feared someone had been the victim of county lines drugs operatons, which see criminals take over properties of vulnerable people and use them for drugs crimes.
“If you or someone you know is affected by drug misuse you can find details of support services on the North Somerset Council website,” they said.
“Your information is very important to help to target drug dealers and tackle the associated crime and disorder which can blight our communities.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
