Victim’s late wife’s wedding ring among items stolen in Somerset burglary

JEWELLERY belonging to the victim’s late wife was stolen in a burglary at a Somerset house.

The break-in, at a property in High Littleton, in the Temple Cloud area, occurred some time between 5pm and 7.15pm on Tuesday, January 13.

The victim, a man in his 70s, returned home to find that thieves had forced entry to the house and taken items including a distinctive wide-band wedding ring with an engraved geometric design.

An engagement ring, cufflinks, shirt studs, a tie pin and gold chains were also taken.

“Burglary is always a distressing crime, especially when irreplaceable items of sentimental value are taken,” an Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said.

“We’ve carried out numerous enquiries and the investigation continues,” they added.

“We’re keen to hear from pawn shops, jewellers or anyone else who may have been offered the wedding ring and other jewellery for sale.”

Anyone with information about the burglary, or the stolen items, should contact police on 101 and give the reference 5226011363.
