Two arrests after burglary in Chard

TWO people have been arrested in connection with an alleged distraction burglary in Chard last week.

Some time between noon and 1pm last Tuesday (November 5), two people knocked on the door of a property offering handyman services.

“At some point during the incident, while the victim was distracted, a bag and purse were taken,” an Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said.

“The victim’s cards were later used to make purchases at a supermarket in Chard.”

Police said a 63-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were both arrested this morning (November 11) on suspicion of burglary and remain in police custody.
