Two arrested for breaching police dispersal order in Glastonbury High Street

TWO men were arrested after they refused to leave Glastonbury High Street when requested to by police.

A Section 34 Dispersal Order was put in place at the High Street and surrounding areas on Saturday (June 28) in response to anti-social behaviour by “a small number of individuals”.

This order allows officers to tell people to leave the area for up to 48 hours if they are engaging in anti-social behaviour.

Three people were issued with Section 35 Dispersal Notices instructing them to leave the area, and while one person complied, two men refused and were subsequently arrested for breaching the conditions of the notice.

The force said the Section 34 Dispersal Order remains in place and will continue to be actively enforced.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers will maintain a visible presence on Glastonbury High Street to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents, businesses, and visitors.

“We thank the community for their continued support. If you witness any ASB or have concerns, please report it via 101 or online.”
