Teen admits setting fire to minibuses and other vehicles at Taunton park and ride site

A TEENAGER has admitted setting fire to seven specially-adapted minibuses in Taunton.

The 17-year-old, from Taunton, admitted two counts of arson, criminal damage, and assaulting an emergency worker during an appearance at North Somerset Magistrates’ Court on April 29.

He has been remanded in youth detention ahead of a scheduled appearance before Taunton Magistrates’ Court on May 29.

Police said the charges related to incidents at the Silk Mills park and ride site between April 25 and 27.

They were:

  • Two counts of arson, both at Silk Mills Park and Ride, namely to an Audi A1 on Friday, April 25, and the minibuses on April 26
  • Affray on April 27
  • Criminal damage to two cars on April 27
  • Assault by beating an emergency worker on April 27
