Suspected drink-driver arrested after police flagged down in Frome

POLICE arrested a suspected drink driver who failed to stop after a crash when they were flagged down by a member of the public.

The incident unfolded in Frome overnight between Saturday and Sunday (April 12 and 13).

An Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said two PCs were “flagged down by a member of the public who reported a motorist had collided with a stationary vehicle and then fled the scene”.

They said the two officers “located the driver, who was then arrested for drink driving whilst under the influence of alcohol and failing to stop”.

“Driving under the influence can lead to severe consequences, including accidents, injuries, and even fatalities,” they added.

“It’s always best to make responsible choices and ensure the safety of everyone on the road.”
