“Tonight, you will see officers on foot, pushbike and vehicle patrol, travelling from area to area ensuring that we are able to proactively engage with people to prevent and deter offending.

“If people do commit offences we will enforce, there will be stop searches, we will make arrests, and you will be dealt with robustly.”

They urged anyone who spots anti-social behaviour or crime, to contact Avon & Somerset Police on 999 and they “will get to you as quickly as possible”.

“Tonight is about fun, time with friends and families and enjoying the holidays. But we will not tolerate any bad behaviour,” the spokesperson added.

“If you see our officers and PCSO’s on patrol tonight then please stop and have a chat.”
