A SOMERSET-based firm which distributes goods to UK supermarkets is being held to ransom by cyber attackers.
Peter Green Chilled, a logistics firm based at Evercreech, near Shepton Mallet, supplies shopping giants such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Aldi.
This morning, the company confirmed clients were “receiving regular updates” on the situation, including “workarounds” on how to continue deliveries.
The attack comes after other big names were hit by cyber criminals, including Marks & Spencer and Co-op.
The BBC reported an email in which Peter Green Chilled said it had been the victim of a ransomware attack, when hackers breach a system, lock users out, and demand money in order to release it.

The email said no orders would be processed on Thursday, although any order prepared on Wednesday would be sent, the BBC said.
Managing director of the firm, Tom Binks, said: “The transport activities of the business have continued unaffected throughout this incident.”
Peter Green Chilled primarily transports chilled food to stores up and down the country.
Recently, Co-op narrowly avoided being locked out of its systems during a cyber attack that led to payment disruption in stores and saw some shelves fall empty, while M&S saw customer data stolen and stock shortages after a ransomware incident.
