Police visiting families of young people spotted on roof of Somerset supermarket

POLICE are asking the people of Nailsea if they know where their children are after a number of young people were spotted on the roof of a town supermarket.

Officers said they are in the process of visiting families of young people they have identified in connection with anti-social behaviour in the town.

“Do you know where your children are tonight? Because some have been seen on the roof of Waitrose,” an Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said.

“We had received a number of reports of young people climbing onto the roof adjacent to Waitrose and causing anti-social behaviour for the residents who live above Somerset Square.

“We have now identified a number of these young people and we are in the process of visiting them with their parents/guardians to discuss the impact their actions are having on local residents.

“We are also working closely with their school to educate them in making better choices. We are hopeful these actions will change their behaviour.

“We cannot impress upon parents enough the dangers of young people being on the roof. Not only are these actions very dangerous for the those involved, it also diverts precious resources away from more pressing policing issues when we need to attend.”

People are being urged to continue to report anti-social behaviour on 101, or 999 if it is an emergency.
