AROUND 200 people partied late into the night at an unlicensed music event in Frome at the weekend.
The event took place at the Vallis Mills Trading Estate overnight from Saturday (March 22) to Sunday.
Despite officers from the Mendip Neighbourhood Policing team arriving within 15 minutes, the event was eventually stopped in the early hours of Sunday morning (March 23).
Officers, who seized some of the sound equipment to prevent this from happening again, say the event caused “significant disruption”.
A spokesperson said: “We are aware of concerns about the significant disruption caused by an unlicensed music event held at Vallis Mills Trading Estate in Frome overnight from Saturday into Sunday.
“The first officers arrived within 15 minutes and found an estimated 200 people in attendance.

“Following the arrival of further officers, the event was stopped in the early hours of the morning and some of the sound equipment was seized to try to prevent it [from] happening again.
“We are grateful to everyone who reported the event taking place which allowed officers to prevent more disruption being caused. If you have any information about it, call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5225084178.”
The force says that signs of a potential music event include posts advertising it on social media, sound equipment being unloaded from vans and large gatherings of people.
“If you see any signs of a potential unlicensed music event, call 101 straight away with as much information as you can about the people and vehicles involved,” a spokesperson added.

Apart from the noise element I’d like to know how they were being disruptive? I think the police drone and many police turning up caused more distuption. I’ve also heard the ‘event holders’ always clear up after an events. I say hats off to them for being so organised and entrepreneurial. Call Alan Sugar!
Waste of time, free party’s are not a crime!!!
This definitely sounds like a waste of taxpayers money. The odd unlicensed party causes minimal disruption compared to all the police activity, vans, drones, helicopters etc. Please let young people be young and focus the policing on real crime such as the wave of shoplifting that is causing real harm to people’s livelihoods,
