Police probe after woman grabbed and bike thrown at her in Wells street

POLICE are keen to identify this person after a woman was assaulted and had a bike thrown at her in Wells.

The incident unfolded in South Street, Wells, at around 10.20am, on Friday (June 20).

Police said they received reports a man had ‘aggressively grabbed’ a female’s clothes before a bike was thrown at her.

Following the incident, they said a woman ran down Guardhouse Lane and was followed by a man a few minutes later.

“House-to-house enquiries have been carried out and we believe the man will have information which could assist our enquiries,” an Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said.

“We are also keen to hear from the woman involved as we want to check on her welfare.”

Officers have now issued a CCTV image in the hope of identifying the person pictured who they “believe may have information which could help our enquiries”.

The man pictured is described as white, in his 20s, around 5ft 10ins tall, and was wearing a blue T-shirt, black jogging bottoms, a grey beanie hat and Nike Air Jordan trainers and had a silver-framed bike.

Anyone who identifies the person, or has information about the incident, should contact police on 101 and give the reference number 5225172220.
