POLICE were once again out in force to prevent any anti-social driving at a Somerset beauty spot.
Officers from Avon & Somerset Police were called to Cheddar Gorge at just before 9pm on Friday night (May 23) after reports of people driving fast, screeching tyres and more.
A Section 34/35 Order, requiring people to move on, was issued, with vehicles “removed” by around 11pm, police said, with one driver issued with a notice due to inconsiderate driving.
Then, on Sunday (May 25), officers engaged in Operation Cruise, tackling anti-social driving, once again at Cheddar Gorge.
A dispersal order was once again put in place, with officers monitoring car parks and moving vehicles on as “40-plus cars” turned up.
“The local policing team regularly attend both pre planned intelligence lead and impromptu car meets in Cheddar Gorge and dispersal powers are often used,” an Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said.
“The public are encourage to keep reporting incidents of this nature with as much details as to the manner of driving as possible.”
It comes weeks after officers seized a vehicle driving anti-socially during patrols in the Ham Hill area of Somerset, while last month, police detected more than 80 motoring offences during an operation at Cheddar Gorge.

Why don’t officers issue section 59 police reform act 2002 to deter these drivers this has been happening so long, I think thos would be more appropriate way to deal with this problem
