UPDATE: Police called to Frome College hoax ‘bomb threat’

POLICE were called to Frome College this morning after a hoax bomb threat.

Students were kept in tutor groups for an extended period, the college said, as officers attended “to ensure everyone’s safety”.

“This morning, we received a hoax call which necessitated a visit from the police onto college site to ensure everyone’s safety,” a spokesperson said.

“We extended tutor time whilst the police checked our site, and we have now returned to our normal timetable.

“The matter is now being handled by the appropriate authorities.”

Avon & Somerset Police have now confirmed the call told college staff there was bomb on the site.

“At approximately 8.30am today Frome Community College received a call from an unknown person stating that there was a bomb somewhere on their site,” a spokesperson said.

“Police were immediately called and attended, and with staff they searched the area. Nothing suspicious was found and the call was deemed malicious.

“During this time, all students in the specified area of the college were evacuated, the normal school day resumed shortly afterwards.”
