A DRONE was used by police at the weekend to hunt down off-road bikers who were reportedly engaging in anti-social behaviour in woods near Frome.
Officers from the Frome and Shepton Mallet Neighbourhood Policing teams attended Asham Wood at the weekend after receiving multiple reports that off-road bikes were causing anti-social behaviour along the bridle paths.

The force said a horse was spooked, which resulted in the rider falling to the ground, but they did not sustain serious injuries.
Some of the individuals were located after officers used the drone unit and these riders were issued Section 59 warnings for causing anti-social behaviour while riding off-road.

“If they are caught engaging in this same ASB within 12 months of receiving this warning, their bikes will be seized,” a Mendip Neighbourhood Policing Team spokesperson said.

Do “bridal paths” lead to “wedding ceremonies”?
On the other hand, well done plod for stopping these irresponsibles. Given that the woods are effectively a “public place” were the bikes taxed, insured and (if of an age) mot’d?
It’s good that neither the horse rider (singular) nor the horse were hurt.
