Man racially abused and assaulted outside Yeovil Superdrug

POLICE have made an arrest after a man was racially abused, punched and kicked in a Yeovil street.

The incident happened at around 2.30pm on Monday, October 14, outside Superdrug, in the High Street.

Avon & Somerset Police said the victim was approached by a suspect who made racist remarks towards him before punching and kicking him.

“The victim sustained facial injuries following the assault,” a spokesperson said.

A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order and assault by causing actual bodily harm. He has since been released on conditional bail.

“We are hoping anyone who overheard or witnessed the incident may be able to assist our enquiries,” the spokesperson added.
