Man in 70s punched to the ground in Chard alleyway attack

A MAN in his 70s was punched in the back of the head in a Chard alleyway.

The victim suffered facial injuries after falling to the floor following the attack, between Poundstretchers and Coral towards the Essex Close car park, at around 4pm on Monday, April 28.

Police said he suffered significant injuries to his hand, bruising to his arms, elbow and eye, and a cut eyebrow, which required medical treatment.

The offender has been described as a white man, approximately in his late-20s, with short brown hair and short facial hair.

“We would particularly like to speak to a young, unknown male who was on a bicycle travelling through the alleyway at the time of the offence who may have witnessed the incident,” an Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact police on 101, quoting reference 5225118842, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
