A MAN has been evicted from a Chard flat after causing “significant harassment, alarm and distress” to neighbours.
Police said officers worked alongside staff from Stonewater Housing Association to evict the resident from a property in Silver Street on July 3.
“The tenant and others associated with the property have been causing significant harassment, alarm and distress to the local residents through their anti-social behaviour, drug use and criminal damage,” an Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said.
“Metal sheeting has been placed across the windows to prevent anyone from accessing the property and the tenant will not be allowed to return, except to get his belongings in the company of Stonewater.
“We would like to thank the community for their patience whilst we secured this eviction. It has been a long process, one that is mandated by processes and our court system.
“We believe this is going to see a significant reduction in crime and ASB in the area and provide the residents with peace and security.”
People can report anti-social behaviour to police on 101, or 999 in an emergency.
