A MAN was attacked as he walked along a remote footpath in Henstridge.
The incident unfolded on the walkway between Woodhayes and Southmead Lane, near Stalbridge Road, at around 3pm on Friday, January 9.
Police said the victim was walking when a blue car – described as similar to a BMW 3 Series or Vauxhall Astra – pulled up behind him.
“A man got out of the vehicle and assaulted the victim,” an Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said.
“The victim managed to deter the offender, who returned to the car and left the area in the direction of Woodhayes.
“We understand that multiple vehicles and pedestrians were in the area at the time, and it is likely that someone saw part of the incident or the vehicle involved.”
Officers are urging anyone with dashcam footage from Stalbridge Road/Woodhayes/Southmead Lane between 2.45pm and 3.15pm on January 9 to come forward, as well as anyone with information about a blue BMW/Astra-type vehicle seen acting suspiciously in the area, as well as witnesses who were present but left before speaking with officers, to come forward.
