POLICE arrested a man in Glastonbury town centre on Saturday (June 14) after ordering him to leave the area.
Officers from the Mendip Neighbourhood Policing team issued a Section 35 dispersal order in the town centre after reports of anti-social behaviour.
“The individual had been ordered to stay away from the area for 48 hours but returned in violation of the order,” a police spokesperson said.
“Upon arrest, officers also discovered the male was in possession of Class B drugs. He was taken into custody and is being dealt with accordingly.”
The arrest was the latest in a string of incidents in Glastonbury town centre, which prompted a call by MP Sarah Dyke (Lib Dem, Glastonbury and Somerton) to the Prime Minister to help support a move to crackdown on crime in the town.
“Our officers remain committed to keeping Glastonbury safe and will continue to take action against those who disrupt our community,” the police spokesperson added.
Anyone who witnesses anti-social behaviour or has concerns should contact police on 101.
