Man arrested after dog dies in Weston-super-Mare

A DOG died in Weston-super-Mare over the weekend after a man reportedly attacked it.

A man, in his 50s, was arrested by police in the Worle area at around 6pm on Saturday, November 30, in connection with reports of an incident involving a man attacking an animal.

The dog sadly died and officers later arrested a man on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.

He has been released on bail while the investigation continues which will also include a veterinary examination of the dog’s remains.

“Officers understand that this incident has raised strong feelings but stress that nothing should be posted on social media which could compromise the ongoing investigation,” an Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said.
