GRAHAM Janes, of Chard, was due in court yesterday (Monday) charged with the murder of a man in South Petherton.
Janes, of Pear Tree Drive, Chard, was set to appear at Taunton Magistrates’ Court on Monday after being charged in connection with an incident on Friday, August 22.
The 49-year-old was charged with the murder of Colin Lawson, 43, at an address in Holbrook Park, off Mare Lane, South Petherton.
“A forensic post-mortem examination found Mr Lawson died after sustaining a number of wound injuries,” an Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said.
“Janes, of Pear Tree Drive in Chard, has also been charged with one count of assault causing actual bodily harm on the same evening.”
Senior Investigating Officer DI Alan Smith said: “Colin’s family remain in our thoughts and specially-trained officers are continuing to provide them with updates and support.
“A small scene remains in place while further enquiries are carried out at the property but we are trying to complete them as soon as possible. We’d like to thank local residents for their understanding and patience.”
