A MAN has been arrested after more than 1,000 cannabis plants were discovered in Shepton Mallet.
As part of a targeted police operation to tackle cannabis cultivation across the south west, Operation Mille, officers from Frome and Shepton Mallet Neighbourhood Policing Teams discovered the cannabis grow operation in the Shepton Mallet area.
1,304 cannabis plants were discovered at the site, which were seized and destroyed.
“PCs Ben and Lee assisted in the arrest of a 28-year-old male found at the location,” a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said.

“The male was charged and remanded in custody for the production of a class B drug.”
Police said the man was also in possession of a set of keys to an address in Yeovil.

Additional searches at this address uncovered another cannabis grow, a quantity of cash, and a weapon.
Operation Mille saw 32 properties searched, 36 arrests made, and the recovery of 2,240 cannabis plants, 246g of cocaine, 500g and 32 wraps of ketamine, more than 20 nitrous oxide (NOS) cannisters, 10 weapons and more than £57,000 in cash.
