Homeless Robert Jenkins admits Boxing Day burglary in Bath

ROBERT Jenkins has pleaded guilty to burgling a business in Bath on Boxing Day.

The 53-year-old, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to non-dwelling burglary at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, December 31, following a break-in at a business in Princess Street.

He has been remanded in custody ahead of being sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on January 28.

Jenkins’ was charged after cash was stolen from the premises on Friday, December 26. CCTV from the scene showed a second person involved, and investigations continue, police added.

The business owner reported after returning to the premises on December 27, they found burglars had carried out “an untidy search of a ground floor office and basement”.

PC Jed Kingdon, officer in the case, added: “Burglaries from businesses are not victimless crimes, and the harm they can cause can be immeasurable.

“Such offences can have a detrimental, economic impact on the running of a businesses, which can also cause alarm and distress to owners and those who work there.

“We will continue to deliver high-visibility patrols in areas where there are known to be issues, responding to reports and pursuing prosecutions.”
