Burglar jailed after stealing designer clothes, power tools, cash and more

A NORTH Somerset man who stole laptops, a credit card, jewellery and designer clothes and more during two burglaries has been jailed.

And in a separate incident, Manawar Hussain-Butt, of Colliers Gardens, Backwell, also stole a van and power tools from an address in Bristol.

The 42-year-old was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on Wednesday (May 21) to two years and two months behind bars.

The charges came after Hussain-Butt, on July 13, 2023, entered a property in the St George area of Bristol and stole property valued at £7,502, including two laptops, a credit card, gold jewellery, a bin bag of high-value designer clothes and £450 in cash.

Then, on February 13 this year, he stole a Citroën Relay van and power tools.

Some of these items have been recovered and returned to the victim, Avon & Somerset Police said.

After the sentencing, Neighbourhood officer PC Joe Reed, said: “These types of offences are devastating to victims and can cause long-lasting emotional and psychological effects, not to mention the irreparable damage that can be caused to businesses and livelihoods.

“This sentence demonstrates our commitment to tackling theft, burglary and bringing offenders to justice.”
