MARINE Lake in Weston is closed until Wednesday for maintenance work.
The closure, previously announced by the Weston Seafront group, started at 8am today (July 1) and will run until 9am on Wednesday.
“This allows for expected high tides to overtop the causeway and refill the lake,” a spokesperson said.
“We’re draining the lake to enable our seafront rangers to carry out regular maintenance on the two sluice gates. The gates require frequent checks to make sure that they are operating effectively.
“No dredging will be taking place while the lake is temporarily closed, and we don’t currently have further dredging planned.
“This temporary closure is the last in a series planned for maintenance, with all closures scheduled outside of school holidays.”
The next closure is set to take place in September, with more updates planned closer to the time.
