PEOPLE are being urged to have their say over transport in Clevedon and Portishead.
Next month, North Somerset Council (NSC) is hosting a series of events that will help shape the future of transport hubs in the towns.
The events – two which are open to all residents and two which are specifically aimed at local businesses – will offer a chance for people to influence the initial concept designs for the transport facilities.
“Transport hubs are intended to offer useful facilities that make it easier and more appealing to travel on foot, by wheel and by bus – providing a connection point between these different forms of transport,” an NSC spokesperson said.
“They also offer an attractive focal point for communities, helping to boost town and village centres.”
In Portishead, an event for businesses will take place on Wednesday, November 6, from 5pm to 7pm, at the Youth and Community Group, in Harbour Lane.
An event for the wider Portishead community will then take place on Saturday, November 9, from 9am to 12.30pm, at the Farmers Market, in Waitrose Piazza.
In Clevedon, an event for the general public will be held on Thursday, November 7, between 9am and 4pm at Clevedon Market, in Queen’s Square, Station Road.
And an event for Clevedon-based businesses will follow on Thursday, November 7, between 5pm and 7pm at The Theatre Shop, Unit 5, Clevedon Triangle Centre.

Councillor Hannah Young, executive member for highways and transport at NSC, said: “If you live or work in Clevedon or Portishead, please do come along to one of our events in November.
“These events mark the start of a six-month programme of public engagement to develop our new transport hubs – an exciting opportunity to help directly shape the designs and tailor them to the needs of the community.
“These events and discussions will help to determine the features of our future hubs. These could include anything from high quality waiting areas, real-time information displays and electric vehicle charging, to secure cycle facilities, additional seating and planting, bins and parcel lockers.”
The transport hub initiative is UK Government-funded through the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), with funding awarded specifically for this purpose. Visit www.n-somerset.gov.uk/bsip for more information.
