TV icon Angela Rippon in Glastonbury ahead of BBC One Show report

TV icon Angela Rippon was in Glastonbury last week as part of a report on pharmacies.

The Somerset town hit the headlines last year after a petition was launched in response to news medical giant Boots was closing its High Street branch.

Boots’ closure would have left just one pharmacy in the town – Knights in Faversham Lane.

Hundreds of people signed the petition, and their calls were answered by Ramesh Yadav, who runs Magna Pharmacies.

Mr Yadav, whose company runs 13 pharmacies across the country, took on the former Four Seasons shop, in the High Street, and opened Glastonbury Pharmacy.

Prime-time BBC programme, The One Show, is reporting on the loss of high street pharmacies and was in Glastonbury last week to document the loss of Boots – and the successful campaign to keep a facility in the town.

The report is fronted by TV legend, Angela Rippon, who was spotted filming around Glastonbury ahead of the report being screened this evening (Monday, September 23).

Paul Rees, CEO of the National Pharmacy Association (NPA), was also in town for the report.

“Delighted to have been interviewed by TV legend Angela Rippon, alongside pharmacy owner Ramesh Yadav, at his new Glastonbury pharmacy for a feature on (The One Show), which will give further coverage for the NPA Save Our Pharmacies campaign,” he said.

The One Show will be broadcast this evening from 7pm, presented by Alex Jones and Roman Kemp, with guests including Jane McDonald and Danny O’Donoghue.
