TAUNTON Independent Market returns on March 1 – the same day as thousands take to the streets for town’s half marathon.
More than 50 traders are gearing up for the first sale of 2026, on Castle Green, offering products including street food, artisan produce, handmade goods, art, gifts and more.
Organisers said the events will create a strong draw into the town centre, providing a timely boost to footfall and local trade at a crucial point in the year.
Michelle Beck, from Taunton Independent Market, said: “March 1 is going to be a brilliant day for Taunton. With the energy of the Half Marathon and more than 50 fantastic independent traders on Castle Green, there will be something for everyone.
“Whether you’re running, cheering someone on or simply enjoying the atmosphere, we’d love people to make a day of it and support local businesses.”

Taunton Half Marathon spokesperson, Dan Brice, said: “The Half Marathon will be an incredible day for the town, with two and a half thousand runners and their supporters visiting Taunton from across the region.
“Partnering with the Independent Market adds to the atmosphere and gives people even more reason to stay, celebrate and enjoy everything Taunton has to offer.”
The main advertising sponsors for Taunton independent Market, Gibbins Richards Estate Agents, have also thrown their support behind the event.

Shoppers are being reminded free parking remains available in Somerset Council-run car parks in Taunton on Sundays.
