KDC/One Swallowfield site in Wellington to CLOSE, company confirms

THE KDC/One Swallowfield plant in Wellington is closing, it has been confirmed, with around 260 jobs to go.

The company said the decision came after a review of the firm’s production processes – and consultation with employees at the Somerset factory.

“As a result of this review, we will absorb the production volume from Swallowfield Wellington and transfer it to our Barony Universal site in Scotland during 2026, so we can operate more efficiently,” a spokesperson said.

“The move to Scotland will involve a phased transition over the next year, culminating in decommissioning of the Wellington site in 2027.”

They said the company’s “priority remains supporting our employees throughout this period”, with around 260 roles to be made redundant at the cosmetics company.

“We would like to thank Somerset Council, Wellington Town Council and regional business bodies, who have also offered their support for our employees affected by the closure to secure new employment,” the spokesperson went on.

“Over the coming months we will be working with them closely, including the economic development taskforce at Somerset Council.

“We would like to thank all those who have worked for the company, past and present, and contributed to establishing kdc/one as a global market leader in the manufacture of beauty, body and scented living solutions.”
