Records tumble at GTH Somerset machinery sale – but it’s on the move next year!

A HUGE annual machinery sale between Taunton and Bridgwater welcomed record numbers – as it marked its 70th anniversary.

The Greenslade Taylor Hunt (GTH) Annual Spring Machinery Sale, at Walford Cross, saw a record number of lots post-Covid and a record-breaking turnover.

It also attracted a record attendance and an active online bidder input, with around 2,300 lots on offer including 100 tractors and vehicles, 550 lots of machinery and 1,600 lots of miscellaneous items.

However, the sale will move next year to a location closer to Bridgwater, GTH said.

Some prices of note at the Greenslade Taylor Hunt (GTH) Annual Spring Machinery Sale, at Walford Cross, included:

Auctioneer and GTH partner, Andrew Clements, said: “It’s not always the top prices that have a bearing on the trade.

“The quality second hand machinery, in particular grassland equipment, sold exceptionally well with mid-range kit often exceeding vendor expectations.

“At the sale we announced the new location for the sale going forward with the April 2026 sale taking place just a mile north of the current site directly off the A38.”

The historic sale – the largest of its kind in the South West – has taken place every year with the exception of one year due to Covid.

The new sale location, off the A38 and slightly closer to North Petherton, will ensure its continued success and offer the chance to expand, GTH said.

Meanwhile, the firm has further collective sales in the diary, including a collective machinery sale at Yeovil Showground on April 23; an online sale on April 30; and North Somerset on May 28.
