Plan for new takeaway in Martock revealed

A NEW takeaway offering burgers, pizzas and chips could open in Martock if plans are approved.

A planning application has been submitted to Somerset Council by Charles Louwerse Architects, on behalf of Premier Martock Stores, in North Street.

The scheme would see an “under-used” store room at the front of the shop converted to a takeaway premises.

“Though there are hot food takeaway shops in the town, these do not open all day,” the application said.

“Addition of this service to the shop would be a natural extension to the goods on offer and will help ensure the shop’s sustainability,” it added.

The shop currently provides “a wide range of general household foods and products all day”, the application said, with the takeaway giving some “diversification”.

The takeaway would close at 10pm, the plan said, to “avoid late-night revellers visiting and creating a nuisance”.

Don’t think we need a junk food takeaway in Martock, especially in the middle. Parking is already a nightmare outside the shop; someone will get killed there one day.

As I live opposite this establishment I would be against it due to the extra traffic this will attract. People park all over the place to use this shop and can be an absolute nightmare to even cross the road.

More traffic backing out on to an already busy road. Extra litter. Already a variety of takeaways in Martock why another one

I dont think Martock needs another fast food /take away .this is a village already having a good variety of food outlets .what will this do to the other business owners .
NO i defiantly dont think this is a good idea .

This means more litter. Is another takeaway really necessary for the village? Just look at the rubbish left on the side of the building at the present kebab takeaway, its a complete eyesore. Is this the trend we want???
