New Wincanton care home to open in the spring – with jobs on offer

WORK is progressing on a new, state-of-the-art care home in Wincanton – which is expected to open in the spring.

Bupa is currently refurbishing a 72-bedroom facility in Dyke’s Way – after the custom-built building was vacated by the former occupants having welcomed just a handful of patients.

The healthcare firm said the site – The Bridles – would see “quality furnishings, fixtures and fittings” installed over the next five months.

“The Bridles’ interior has been carefully designed to offer premium comfort and outstanding facilities, including two restaurants, a bar, café, hair salon, therapy room, relaxing lounges and a home cinema,” a Bupa spokesperson said.

Innovative technology will also support care home staff, they said, including thermal sensors, voice activated devices and an online portal for families.

Bupa Care Homes managing director, Danni Davies, said: “We are proud and excited to be bringing this luxurious new home to Wincanton. We’re looking forward to recruiting a compassionate team, welcoming residents and building relationships with our local community.”

The care home will provide nursing, residential and specialist dementia care, while creating job opportunities.

Bupa took on the building after, in September last year, your Leveller revealed the home was closing having only ever welcomed four tenants under previous owner, Cornerstone Healthcare.

The £10 million facility was put up for sale after a troubled birth – with work coming to a halt in 2022 amid the collapse of construction firm, Midas.

Now, a show suite is set to open at the site in February and for more information about living at The Bridles in Wincanton, or joining the care home team, register interest at www.bupa.co.uk/the-bridles.
