New Taunton pub – The Chapel Tap – to open with live music next week

A NEW pub is opening in Taunton next week.

On November 21, The Chapel Tap will open its doors at the former Jack Wills shop, at The Orchard Shopping Centre.

Billed as “a brand-new destination for lovers of local craft drinks, community connection, and great conversation”, the venue is being run by the Elliott family, who also run The Chapel, in Cotford St Luke.

It will welcome customers from noon on November 21, with Paul and Neil from Bird Dogs performing live music from 5pm to 8pm.

The “rustic yet elegant” bar is the latest venture from Steve and Tracey Elliott, who transformed The Chapel into a popular drinking spot.

“The Chapel Tap is about more than just what’s in the glass,” said co-owner Steve.

“It’s about creating a space where people can relax, catch up, and feel part of something local. Every drink we pour has a story behind it — from the fields, farms, and breweries of the south west.”

He said The Chapel Tap in Taunton will showcase a line-up of drinks from independent producers across the south west, including: Utopian Brewing, Sheppy’s Cider, Quantock Brewery, Coast to Moor Coffee, plus a curated selection of wines, English sparkling, and speciality spirits.

“We’ve always believed in keeping things local,” added Tracey. “By supporting South West producers, wherever we can, we’re not just serving great drinks — we’re helping small businesses thrive, and giving people a real taste of Somerset and the south west.”

The Chapel Tap is in the Grade II-listed property at 4 Fore Street, previously occupied by Jack Wills.
